NODA do 30th April
A few of the society members were lucky enough to be able to attend the NODA North West Regional Awards Night on 30th April 2023. This was held in the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, and was very well attended.
What a fantastic venue it was too. There was a really good atmosphere, with good food and excellent company. We were sharing our table with members of both The Three Towns and Wilmslow Green Room. It was great chatting with other Societies – that in itself made it an enjoyable event, as well as catching up with friends attending from other Societies.
Kay Unsworth was nominated as best supporting actress in a drama for her role as Mrs Lottie Molloy in our previous play 'Murder Room'. I was also nominated as best leading actress in a drama for my role as Joyce in 'Trivial Pursuits' with St Paul's (Astley Bridge) – a category that I was also nominated for at district level for playing Mavis Templeton Hollister in 'Murder Room'.
Receiving the eight nominations at district level and then going forward to the regional level with two nominees (albeit one with St Paul's) was a significant achievement for the Society as well as for the individuals, even though this time we did not win them outright at Blackpool.
It was a shame that there wasn't accommodation at the venue, which meant that the do fizzled out possibly earlier than it might, but a good time was had by all. I would definitely recommend coming with us next time.

- Carmela Horne, as Mavis Templeton Hollister - Best Director
- Irene Holmes - Best Staging

What an achievement, and congratulations to everyone involved – to receive 7 nominations is testament to how much hard work everyone put into this production.
A small group from the society were able to secure a place at the shared District 5 and 7 Awards Dinner at the Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa on the evening of Friday 10th February 2023. It was a very enjoyable evening, with a great food in good company, and a fantastic atmosphere.
When it came to the Awards, we were up against some very stiff competition in all categories, but we are happy to be able to say that we won the following :-
Kay Unsworth - Best Supporting Female in a Drama 'Murder Room' - Best Set for a Drama
Well done Kay! The role of Mrs Lottie Molloy was brilliant – Kay goes forward as the district 5 nomination to the NODA North West Awards in Blackpool.

Congratulations also to our chairman Carmela Horne, who was nominated twice in the same category. She won the award for her part as Joyce in Trivial Pursuits, although it must have been a tough call between this and her role in Murder Room. Carmela also goes forward as the district 5 nomination to the NODA North West Awards in Blackpool.
And last but by no means least, a huge congratulations to everyone who made the set for 'Murder Room' such a success.
To Bert Halliday for building the set with Owen Riley (RIP) in the first place, ready for its planned use in May 2020. To Christopher Ward and Brian Heaher who stepped in to help Bert complete the set, starting in late 2021. To all the society members, including committee members and cast members who got stuck-in painting and dressing the set from then to the start of the play on 16th February 2022. To Tyldesley Little Theatre and various society members for the loan of furniture for the stage. To Mike O'Brien for making a working lamp able to be knocked over on stage. Finally to Brian Heaher for operating the secret trapdoor during the week of the play. Well done all, mentioned or not, it couldn't have been done without any of you.
